Gangster museum

The Big Issue South Africa 11 November 2019

Social entrepreneurs in South Africa are trying to prevent youngsters joining gangs with a new project called 18 Gangster Museum. Wandisile Ngeketho, Siyabulela Daweti and Athenkosi Mongo – who run successful recycling businesses – fear that gang life is a big draw for young South Africans and they hope their project will deconstruct any glamour perceived with a gangster lifestyle. The museum will present a history of gangs in South Africa complemented by artwork and talks by ex-gangsters who ended up in prison. (886 Words) - By Tarryn Brien
