Bulgarian leaders condemn attacks on immigrants

Recently, Bulgaria has seen a rise in racist attacks on immigrants. Over the past year, there has been a large influx of refugees arriving in Bulgaria, the poorest country in the EU. The refugees come mainly from Syria but their arrival has prompted anti-immigrant protests by far-right groups. However, the escalating violence aimed at refugees has been condemned by both the president and prime minister in a rare joint statement. (420 Words) - By Tsvetelia Tsolova
