California homeless victimised

Homeward Street Journal - USA 18 November 2019

Homeless people in California, USA, face harassment and victimisation at the hands of the authorities. In this two part report from the Homeward Street Journal we see how state policies and police harassment are further marginalising the homeless community. Mike Rhodes reports on the destruction of a homeless camp in Fresno while Erica Fonseca reveals how homeless people are targeted for petty fines, such as ‘jay-walking’, which force poor people further into poverty. (1022 Words) - By Mike Rhodes and Erica Fonseca
