Last December, Nelson Mandela died at the age of 95. Mandela was a global icon who guided South Africa from the shackles of apartheid to multi-racial democracy. In doing so, 'Madiba' became a symbol of peace and reconciliation who embodied the struggle for justice around the world. He was the first black president of South Africa and in 1993 won a Nobel Peace Prize for his achievements.
