German artist designs for homeless and Urban Nomads

 Surprise - Switzerland 09 February 2019

Since 2011, German artist Winfried Baumann has blended art, architecture, design and social activism to build useful products for homeless people and other “urban nomads”. His work includes a range of small mobile homes designed to provide movable shelter for one person. The artist based in Nuremberg consulted homeless people to develop his designs and even created a range of trolleys to help German street paper vendors transport their copies while selling on the street. While his designs have received some criticism from the public, Baumann says that some homeless people “are proud that this has been made specifically for them.” (784 Words) - By Florian Blumer
