Grief counselling after mass shootings in USA

 Street Roots - USA 02 November 2019

On 1 October, a student shot and killed nine students and injured nine more before turning his gun on himself at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon, USA. It was the deadliest mass shooting in Oregon’s history, and has rattled the local community. Janet Holland heads the mental health agency charged with helping Roseburg to heal. She talks to Street Roots about providing group and individual grief counselling to more than 2,000 people after the incident and how ‘post-traumatic growth’ can affect entire communities. (1106 Words) - By Amanda Waldroupe
